Bobby Chiasson Sr.

October 29, 1946 — October 5, 2021

Robert Keith “Bobby” Chiasson Sr. was born October 29, 1946 in Jennings, Louisiana to Horace and Ruby Chiasson.

His family relocated to Lake Charles, where he graduated from LaGrange High School, Class of 1964.  He then began attending McNeese until he was called to serve his country, enlisting into the United States Air Force. Upon returning from basic training, he and his high school sweetheart ran away to Marshall, TX to be married. Their adventure led them to a locked courthouse, an older judge, and the misunderstanding that they were only practicing. On April 26, 1969 that old judge announced “Man and Wife”, their life together had begun.  During his enlistment he served as an Aircraft Mechanic and served in Thailand during the Vietnam war, after four years of service he received an honorable discharge.

Upon returning home in 1979 he and his brother Bart started the family business, Chiasson Electric, Inc. It was the hard work and perseverance of them both, ensuring the legacy of the business lives on in future generations.

To his children, his diligence and perseverance were shown as he attended every game, school event, hunting or fishing trip. He taught them through his daily actions and work ethic the importance of giving your all and to achieve excellence, that even when they faulter to get up and try, try again.

In 2009, upon the passing of Bart, he began to groom his son, Keith who had grown up in the family business, to take over the legacy they had built. He continued to work for the family company until his retirement in 2016. He notably was a fifty plus year member of the NECA/IBEW.

In his down time, he and Annette were longtime McNeese boosters and season ticket holders traveling to every football game they could. It could be said he bled yellow and gold, GO POKES! Over the years he had camps on Big Lake, at Grand Isle, and Toledo Bend where he enjoyed his long life passion of fishing. It was there he made many memories with his children and grandchildren, especially his one and only favorite son, Keith.

He is remembered best living his life as a man telling the truth versus what you wanted to hear, and never spent a dime he didn’t have. He had many accomplishments; co-founding both his family business and Petro-bowl, enjoy many years with his bride; enjoy cruises, the most memorable one being the honeymoon they never had in Cancun.

He was welcomed into Heaven on October 5, 2021 by his parents and two brothers; Bart Chiasson and Jack Chiasson.

Those left to cherish his memory; his bride of fifty-two years, Annette M. Chiasson; a son, Robert Keith (Liz) Chiasson Jr.; two daughters, Kerri (Joe) Gutowski and Kelli (Josh) LeBlanc; his grandchildren, Chaney, Kamron, Kaelyn, Andrew, Joe, Matt, Jake, Avery, Lilah;  two sisters, Pamela (Russell) Adam and Cheryl (Stephen) Hullett; numerous extended family and friends.

The family will welcome friends, Monday, October 11, 2021 at University Baptist Church beginning at 10:30am to 2:30pm. A funeral led by Pastor David Lang will begin at 2:30pm with burial to follow at Consolata Cemetery.
