Bobby Crow

March 17, 1930 — January 20, 2025

Barbara Jean “Bobby” Crow, 94, of Lake Charles passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025, with her family at her side.

Bobby was a native of Kansas and a longtime resident of the Lake Charles area. She was a 1947 graduate of Iowa High School and graduated from Tri-State Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She retired in 1996 from St. Patrick’s Hospital where she had the honor of taking care of the babies in the nursery for 25 years. She was a member of Sale Street Baptist Church.

She loved her family above all else, treasured beach vacations with loved ones, and had a deep appreciation for the outdoors - especially crabbing with her grandsons under the 210 bridge. Holidays on the river held a special place in her heart, particularly those that featured crawfish. Always full of energy and a sense of adventure, she embraced life to the fullest, from boat rides (her last at the age of 89) to neighborhood bike rides, which she continued until the age of 90.

Watching the Kentucky Wildcat’s Basketball, reading, gardening and cooking were some of Bobby’s favorite pastimes. She was quite the foodie, always having her signature banana nut bread, chocolate chip cookies, and sugar cookies on hand to give to her special neighbors, family, and friends for Christmas and special occasions.

Bobby is preceded in death by her parents, Scott Lee and Jean Ruth Ingels Holsey and her sister, Shirley Denison. She leaves to her memory her son, Mark Crow and wife Dee Dee of Sulphur; grandsons, Justin (Sara) Crow of Harahan, LA and Kelley (Mandy) Crow and Cameron (Meagan) Crow, both of Mooringsport, LA; six great-grandchildren, Aaden, Emma, Jaxson, Caroline, Julia and Reagan; nephews, Scott (Denise) Denison and Steve Denison; great nieces, Hannah (Adam) Grogan, Caitlin (Justin) Guillory, Carrie (Jared) Marler and many great, great nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends remembering and giving tribute to Bobby’s life will be from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Saturday, January 25, 2025.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of Resthaven Nursing Home and Brighton Bridge Hospice for the compassionate and special care shown to Bobby in her time with them, especially, Tammy, Tytiana, Austin, Christina, Tyler, Patsy, Dana and Melinda and the many others that were there to help!
