"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." Our dear sweet mama is now singing with the angels. Born on March 31, 1932 to Bernice and Effie Mae Herlong Taylor in Mound, LA; she left her earthly body on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 surrounded by her loved ones at her Topsy home. Bobbye worked many years as a nurse's aide at Resthaven Nursing Home and Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. She retired from St. Patrick Hospital with twenty-five years as a nurse's aide ending as a Ward Clerk on Unit 31. Her hobbies were the grand and great-grandchildren. She loved anything she could do with her hands: cooking, tending her plants, embroidery, and quilting. But her passion was crocheting and many nursing students and co-workers were blessed with an afghan when they married or had a baby. She was also noted for her huge flannel blankets that were made with love. She donated many to First Baptist Church of Gillis WMU Honduras mission project. Bobbye was a member of First Baptist Church of Gillis and later a member of Topsy Baptist Church at her death. Bobbye was preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild, one great-grandchild, and the father of her children, Hermon Lasyone. Left to honor Bobbye are her three daughters and sons-in-law; Sharlin and Ralin Bailey, Darlene and John Broussard, and Kaylan and Carl Hickingbottom; ten grandchildren, Maret (Scott) Hunsaker, Miska (Corey) Fruge, Daisha (Chris) Evans, Garrett (Kristina) Daigle, Jarrett (Heidi) Daigle, Taren (Damon) Miller, Brittany (Matthew) Fruge, John Mark (Dana) Stennett, Kyle Hickingbottom, and Ty Hickingbottom; fifteen great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Benjamin Hunsaker, Hannah and Taylor Fruge, Aubrey, Olivia and Grayson Evans, Brian and Grace Daigle, Kyce, Brodee, and Emerye Daigle, Abigail Miller, Aiden Hickson and Brantley Stennett and baby Stennett due soon; sister by love, Marion Lasyone; and dear friends, Brenda Cradeur, Cheryl Cornner, and Janet Dansby; and a host of nephews and nieces. The celebration of her home going led by her daughters will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 12, 2014. Burial will follow in Creel Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service. Her daughters and sons-in-law, along with Mr. Edwards McKeever will serve as her honor bearers. If you are one of many who have been loved on by Bobbye, please make a donation in her memory to the charity of your choice. To Dr. Peter Karam, his nurse Kathy, Jennifer Graham, NP, Dr. Winterton and his staff, LCMH 8 Tower, we thank you for your excellent care of our sweet Mama. The family would also like to thank Southern Home Health, Harbor Hospice: Jenn, Brandi, and Leslie. For all these allowed Mama to be at home.
