Bonnie Ledoux Sammis

September 9, 1937 — July 12, 2012

Bonnie Jean LeDoux Sammis, 74, died on Thursday, July 12, 2012 in a local hospital, with her family at her side.


She was born in Eunice, Louisiana to J. E. "Boo" LeDoux and Lena Perry LeDoux. She graduated from Vinton High School and went on to earn an Associate Degree from McNeese State University. After finishing her college work, she was employed by Cities Service Oil Company in the Petro-Chemical Plant for 11 years. Mrs. Sammis also served many years as a substitute teacher and finished her working career with Lakeside National Bank and First National Bank of Lake Charles. Recently she earned a General Class Amateur Radio license with the call sign of WA5QBX. Her biggest joy was being with her family, especially with grandchildren and traveling in the Western part of the United States.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Burt Sammis, her two sons and their families; Michael Sammis, wife Janie and daughter Jordan Paige of Frisco, Texas; Mark Sammis, wife Bobbie and daughters Cheri, Carlee and son Coby of Welsh, Louisiana; brother Joseph E. LeDoux, Jr, wife Nancy and son Milo of Brooklyn, NY.

She was preceded in death by her father, J. E. "Boo" LeDoux and stepmother Pris LeDoux of Eunice, Louisiana, and her mother, Lena P. Finn and stepfather Robert L. Finn of Vinton, Louisiana.


Her Memorial Service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 14, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor Harry Grieg will officiate. A gathering of family will be from 12:00 Noon until the time of service in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to the Cameron Parish Library in Sweetlake.
