Bradley Fontenot

January 11, 1939 — February 4, 2022

Joseph “Bradley” Fontenot, 83, of Lake Charles, LA passed away peacefully in his home on February 4, 2022.

He was born on January 11, 1939 to Homer Fontenot and Amy Manuel Fontenot.

Bradley was born in Lafayette but was raised in Kinder and graduated from Kinder High School before marrying the love of his life and moving to Lake Charles. He will be remembered for his kind heart and his love and devotion to his wife, Lurlene and his family. Bradley loved camping and fishing in Toledo Bend, Texas. He was an active member of the Christus Lake Area Senior Center where he and his wife loved to spend time volunteering, hanging out and forming life-long friendships with other seniors in the community. Bradley loved to wood work in his shop and enjoyed doing things for others. He was very involved in the lives of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Lurlene McCauley Fontenot of Lake Charles; his children, Bradley S. Fontenot and wife Sally of Lake Charles, Angela Fontenot Matte and husband Kevin of Lake Charles, and Janine Fontenot Naquin and husband Timothy of Moss Bluff; his grandchildren, Jerad Bradley and wife Erica of Iowa, Lori Williams and husband Blaine of Moss Bluff, Amy Bradley and fiancé Randy of Sulphur, Jason Naquin of Moss Bluff, Brittany Cormier and husband Vincent of Lake Charles, Meghan Peterson and husband Kyle of Moss Bluff, Joshua Fontenot and wife Bailli of New Orleans, Ryan Naquin of Moss Bluff, Matthew Fontenot of Lake Charles, Corey Naquin of Lake Charles, and Daniel Fontenot of Lake Charles;  his bonus grandchildren, Phillip Whitfield and wife Sarah of Carlyss, Aaron Whitfield and wife Lauren of Westlake, and Ellaina Whitfield and fiancé Tony of Moss Bluff; 15 great-grandchildren; 10 bonus great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Fontenot & Amy Manuel Fontenot; His sister Mable Fontenot Montou and husband; his brother Burkman Fontenot and wife; and his brother Rodney Fontenot and wife.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at University Baptist Church in Lake Charles on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11 am with a memorial service to follow at 1 pm.
