The life story of Brandon. Brandon Lee James Chapman was born November 4, 1985 to Nelson Chapman and Janice Marie Hanney in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He lived a full life for such a young man. Since a very young child, he had big dreams and aspirations. He loved performance arts and music of every kind. His love for life made his joy and smile contagious everywhere he went. He genuinely loved and deeply cared for people. Through his life struggles of being away from home, he gained a stronger faith in GOD and relied heavily on his protection and guidance.

Over the years, Brandon showed his true talents. He was Drum Major and played the Saxophone at Alfred M. Barbe High School and continued his education at McNeese State University. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications. He was in Speech and Debate during high school and college, which entitled him to expand his taste for traveling. Also, in college he played the saxophone in the marching band and later became a cheer leader for McNeese State. Brandon has a passion for the Arts and Theatre. He loved being in front of a camera, whether it was for a movie or for fun; that was his true calling. Following his dreams, Brandon moved to New Orleans where he got the leading role in the thriller movie called Chosen 2014, directed by Paul Dale, a drama movie called Lost Memories 2010, directed by Terra Hodge and a comedy called the Fifteen Minute Show 2003. He broadens his horizon by moving to Los Angeles, Ca. in 2013. There he made a host of lifetime friends. He worked several jobs in preparation of becoming an inspiring actor before working for the University of California, Los Angeles.

Brandon leaves his legacy of love and memories to his soul mate, Maggie Mouton of Lake Charles, La.; his mother, Janice Hanney Shillow of Westlake, La.; father, Nelson Chapman and second father, Donald Shillow Sr. all of Lake Charles, La.; grandmother, Olivia Hanney of Lake Charles, La.; five sisters, Amanda Marie Chapman, Jacquetta Randle and Qiana Sha’Rohn Green all of Lake Charles, La.; Kyidera R. Chachere of Houston, Tx.; Shawndrea Antionette Simien of Austin, Tx.; three brothers, Donald (Megan) Shillow Jr. of Westlake, La.; Deon Lamar Simien of Lake Charles, La.; Isaiah Aidon Delafosse of Austin, Tx. Brandon will be missed by a host of aunts and uncles together with cousins and a multitude of friends.

Brandon was preceded in death by his grandfathers; Lionel (Leo) Hanney and Lindsey Chapman; grandmother, Matilda G. Chapman along with uncle and aunt Ferrick (Marilyn) Chapman.

For all who knew Brandon, know how he touched their lives with a contagious smile and joy that can never be forgotten.

His funeral service will be 2:00PM Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Pastor Norman Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Mausoleum under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday 9:00AM-2:00PM at the funeral home.
