Brenda Lanell Phillips Lavergne

Brenda Lanell Phillips Lavergne, 78, of Lake Charles passed away at 9:43 PM on Monday, April 4, 2022 in a local hospice facility.

Mrs. Lavergne was born on May 13, 1943 in Abilene, TX and was raised in Dallas before moving to Lake Charles in 1960. She was a member of Oak Park United Methodist Church.

Affectionately called “Momma Brenda” and “Little Red,” she had a feisty spirit with the personality of a social butterfly. Her passion in life was spending time with her family and cooking to feed all who were around. In her past time, she enjoyed many activities on her computer including playing slot machines, interacting in a weather group, and emailing and chatting with others.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 34 years, Ralay Lavergne of Lake Charles; children, Stephanie Perkins Dittmar (Huntis) of Davidson, NC, Brooks Perkins of Sulphur, LA, Philip Perkins (Bob Chasan) of Tucson, AZ, and Chris Perkins (Jody Mullen) of New York, NY; stepchildren, Patty Adams of Pasadena, TX, Ronnie Lavergne (Vera) of Crossville, TN, and Pamela Patterson (Fred) of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Eric Dittmar, Andrew Dittmar (fiancé Lauren Flores), Blake Perkins (fiancé Karli Primeaux), Brett Perkins, Angelle Viehoefer, Gerrett Adams (Emily), and Hilliary Adams; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Alta Rice Phillips; siblings, Wynon Willis, Jerry Phillips, and Wayne Phillips; and her beloved furry companions, Pierre and RB “Mr. B.”

A graveside service will be held at 11:15 AM on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Highland Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel from 10:00 AM until leaving for the graveside.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and healthcare providers at Harbor Hospice for taking such wonderful care of our beloved Brenda and her family.
