Brenda Sue Rhodes Jenckes Crosby, 77, of Westlake, LA, died at 9:46 AM on Saturday, August 19, 2017 in a local hospital.

 

Mrs. Crosby was born August 18, 1940 in Hammond, LA, where she graduated from Southeastern High School in 1958. She lived in the Lake Charles area for over thirty-five years. Mrs. Crosby worked in the banking industry for over twenty years, retiring from Chase Bank as the branch manager in Lake Charles. She attended Trinity Baptist Church and was a member of the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class. She enjoyed watching golf and football on television and had a special place in her heart for her animals, especially her cats and her dog, but her true passion was for her family.

 

Mrs. Crosby is survived by her husband of twenty years, Ray Crosby of Westlake, LA; son, Jeffrey Jenckes and wife Carol of Sulphur; daughter, Shannon Thorn of Sulphur; step-children, Pam Berryman and husband David of Moss Bluff, Raymond Crosby and wife LaDonna of Westlake, Michael Crosby and wife Penny of Moss Bluff, and Dennis Crosby and wife Debbie of Westlake; sister, Gay Dodson and husband Bill of North Little Rock, AR; thirteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Gladys Rhodes.

 

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.

 

Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, the ASPCA or to the charity of one’s choice.

 

The family would like to express a special word of thanks to the ICU staff at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
