Brian Paul “DOC” English passed away December 6, 2024, peacefully after his struggle with cancer. Brian was born May 10, 1957, to Howard “DOC” & Genevieve English, raised in Vinton, LA. He moved to Sulphur when he married the love of his life Clare in November 1978. They were married 17 years before her passing in 1997, and had one child, Rachel. He and Rachel raised each other after Clare’s passing and to his very last breath were side by side. Brian worked in the oil fields in his early career, was a pipefitter by trade and worked mostly in sheet metal shops later in life. He had a passion for bird dogs, dog training, and field trials with his friend that was more like a brother, Lee Monlezun III. He loved to hunt and fish any chance he got. Best of all he was proud to be Paw Paw DOC to his two boys, he cheered them on in anything they did and bragged on them any chance he got. Brian became an honorary member of the Link family when his daughter married in 2006, their family welcomed him with open arms and shared many fond memories together for nearly two decades.
Brian is survived by his daughter, Rachel (Cody) Link; 2 grandsons, Grant and Grady Link; Brothers, Keith (Gail) English, Craig English, Scott (Patty) English, Bruce (Roxanne) English; Brothers-in-law, Tom Pickett, Tony (Jan) Pickett, Kevin (Sue) Pickett, Michael Gary; Sisters-in-law, Claire English, Brigid (John) Wiggins; In-laws, Richard (Rebecca) Link, Jake (Marie) Link, Tori (Tyler) Fox; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, numerous extended family and great friends.

His family is incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love and support throughout his 9-month battle with cancer, his doctors and their staff at Sulphur Surgical Clinic, Vinton Medical Clinic, Memorial Hospital, Ochsner-Jefferson Hospital, WCCH Hospital, and Harbor Hospice Facility, along with the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge, Carmichael’s Pharmacy, his Home Health Nurses and Physical Therapists. Thankful to those who reached out, visited, prayed for him, sent him little gifts, the love of all those things was infused into his heart and gave him the courage to fight until the very end. Our gratitude is endless for the compassion and generosity he received during his illness.
