Bruce Jacob Fix

Bruce Jacob Fix, 84, of Lake Charles, LA, passed away at 1:20 AM on Thursday, September 15, 2022 in a local care facility.

Mr. Fix was born January 4, 1938 in Mobridge, SD.  Throughout his life, he has lived in South Dakota, California, North Carolina, Virginia, Minnesota, and has called Lake Charles his home since 2004.  He entered the National Guard at the age of 16 and went on to serve from 1955 to 1958 in the U.S. Army, 82^nd Division at Fort Bragg, where he made numerous parachute jumps and instructed physical training. He held various jobs throughout the years, but his most memorable ones included his own Paint & Body shop in Mobridge, SD, and working as an insurance agent and adjustor for over twenty years, retiring in 2011.  Cars have been a constant throughout his life; during his younger years, he enjoyed racing cars and later in life, enjoyed watching the races.  He was a member of the South Dakota Moose Lodge.  He was a member of The Vineyard Church in Lake Charles.  Bruce loved to tinker with everything and could fix anything he put his mind to.   He loved to meet people and considered them a friend from that day forward.  His desire to help others displayed his servitude, kindness and compassion.  

Mr. Fix is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Lori Conerton Fix of Lake Charles; children, Sherry Berkheimer (Bruce) of Chesterfield, VA, Bruce Fix, II (Amy) of Hallsville, TX, Steven Fix (Janet) of Victoria, VA, Donna Snow (Mike) of Victoria, VA, Christina Schull (Clint Counsellor) of Lexington, KY; brother, Kevin Fix (Connie) of Iowa, LA; grandchildren, Melissa, Jolene, Harley, Nikki, Jeramiah, Brian, Dani, Dustin and Chelsea; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Alex, Brendon, Christie, Tyler, Jaden, Layton, Langston, Cody, Whitney, Felicity, Selena, Chance, Cash, and Kennedy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Fix; mother, Elsie Borth Voller; brother, Donald Fix; and his mother’s 2^nd husband Tony Voller.

His memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the Vineyard Church.  Reverend Zack Rodriguez will officiate.  A gathering of family members and friends will be on Saturday at the church from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
