Burnell J. Nunez Sr., “Tiny Boy”, “Old Pawpaw” passed away on September 4, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas 90 years ago on August 12, 1929, to Ofa and Carrie Marshall Nunez (Erbelding).
Mr. Nunez was married to the love of his life and wife of 71 years, Eddie “Te” Lorraine Mudd on June 10, 1948. He was a lifelong resident of Cameron Parish until later years. His life work included everything from working on a dredge dredging Lake Charles, breaking horses, truck owner/operator, from deputy to investigator for Cameron Parish Sheriff Department, where he retired. He was also a rancher, security officer and boat captain for the Menhaden plant.
Mr. Nunez was a devout Christian, who enjoyed playing gospel music on his guitar and banjo and loved spending time with his wife and family. He enjoyed old westerns and horses.
Survivors include his wife Eddie “Te” Lorraine Nunez; sons, Burnell Nunez Jr. (Donna), Ronald Nunez Sr. (Alba) and Reverend Anthony Nunez (Jean); grandchildren, Ronald Nunez Jr. (Angie), Tremayne Picou (Jessica), Shawn Nunez, Lauren Nunez, Sarah Sonnier (Mike), Jacob Nunez (April), Joshua Nunez (Amy), Clayton Nunez, Jose Castillo, Katia Castillo; 20 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother and step-father Harry Erbelding Sr., brother Clayton Nunez, sister Margie Mazzuco, daughter Janice Foret and grandson Daniel Joseph Picou Jr.
The Family would like to thank Heart of Hospice and Aunt Jean for their love and compassionate care.
