Camille Lisotta Scott

October 26, 1927 — June 12, 2016

She was truly blessed from heaven above with the love of friends and family. Camille Scott, 88, of Lake Charles died at home on Sunday, June 12, 2016.

She was born October 26, 1927, the fifth child out of seven and the youngest daughter of Italian immigrants, Luke Lisotta of Corleone, Sicily and Mariana Giardina Lisotta of Cefalu, Sicily. She grew up in the Italian community that existed at that time in Lake Charles. Camille was a humble and modest woman, pleased with whatever she had. She seldom spoke of the past, whether it was good or bad, but always looked forward to tomorrow and what it may bring. She believed that life itself was a blessing from God and all that she had and ever received came from Him. Her strong Christian faith was evident in her daily life of prayer and her generosity to others, especially in their time of need, regardless of their faith. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Parish. Camille was a member of different organizations throughout the years, but was always an active Catholic Daughter.

In 1944, she married Lloyd Scott from Vicksburg, Mississippi. He was in the Army Air Force and stationed at Lake Charles. After getting married they moved to Stuttgart, Arkansas, for less than two years. This was the only time in her life that she did not live in Lake Charles. They raised and nurtured four children: Marilyn Scott Dougherty (Darrell Dougherty) of Pocatello Idaho, Frank Scott (Cheri Littell Scott) of Edgewood, New Mexico, Ginger Scott Hays (Calvin Hays) of Montgomery, Texas, and Jeffrey Scott (Barbara Burke Scott) of Vancouver, Washington.

Camille was preceded in death by Lloyd Scott her husband of 66 years and grandson Calvin Hays, IV. She is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, and one brother Sam Lisotta.

Before all of her children moved away, she was a model housewife; cooking, cleaning, sewing, and shopping. In her younger years she enjoyed a variety of arts and crafts from ceramics and macramé to Christmas ornaments and afghan blankets. Camille provided her family with a place of comfort and peace. No one that ever ate at her house was disappointed. She was always considered an excellent cook and hostess, as there was plenty to enjoy. Prior to her children growing up and moving away, she cooked spaghetti and meatballs almost every Sunday. If it wasn’t spaghetti, then it was lasagna. During the holidays and holy days you would find her making Italian pastries and other traditional dishes that she prepared for over 50 years. She proudly passed these talents down to her children who carry on the tradition. Her happiest times were when the house was filled with friends and family during the holidays.

She participated in weekly card games of pokeno with a group of good friends, always looked forward to visits from her neighbors, nieces, and her faithful friend and caregiver Sister Mary. Over the last several years, Saturday evenings were spent with Lawrence Welk.

A rosary will be prayed at Johnson's Funeral Home on Thursday afternoon June 16, at 6:00 PM and a Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Heaven on Friday, June 17, at 10:00 AM.  Father Jeffrey Starkovich will officiate.  Camille will be buried next to her husband at Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM to 9:40 AM.

The family would like to express a special word of thanks to Sister Mary from Our Lady Queen of Heaven for the love and compassion that was given.
