Captain Walter Wise Miller

Captain Walter Wise Miller, of Little Chenier died Saturday, November 24, 2012 in a local care facility.


Mr. Miller was born April 13, 1936 in Monroe, Louisiana to Rex and Garnet Raney. He was a man of many talents; he thoroughly enjoyed learning, reading, and visiting. Captain Miller graduated from Lagrange Senior High in 1955, he later earned his Bachelor's Degree in Arts and Speech in 1967, a Masters in education in 1977, and another masters degree in learning in 1978 from McNeese State University. He earned the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation award in 1960. He worked for the Calcasieu Parish Sherriff's Office for many years. Mr. Miller was the operating Captain for the charter boat The Pirate of which he loved greatly.


He is preceded in death by his parents and his loving dogs Bengi and Bear.


He is survived by his family, Anthony and Mary Vincent of Little Chenier and Oscar and Paola Garcia; and cousin, Georgene Gibson of Lake Charles.



Visitation will be 10AM until time of services Monday, November 26,2012 at Johnson Funeral Home with a service at 3PM. Burial will be at Prien Memorial Park. Rev. Georgene Gibson will officiate funeral.
