Carl Lawrence Ciulla

February 20, 1937 — December 8, 2022

Beloved father, Carl Lawrence Ciulla, 85, of Moss Bluff, Louisiana, passed away, Thursday, December 8, 2022.

A private celebration of life will be held at his home. The burial of his ashes will follow soon after at New Ritchie Cemetery.

Carl was born the only son and youngest on  February, 20, 1937 in Huntington Beach, California, to Carl(Calogero) and Blanche (Alnet) Ciulla. He was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He began working at the age of eight, delivering baked goods from his mother’s bakery and his father’s shoe making business in the French Quarter. As an adult, Carl worked in the beauty business where he excelled as a leader with unwavering character and integrity. He owned and operated Joico of Louisiana for 22 years. He enjoyed travelling, carpentry, and gardening. However, his greatest role was that of a father. He was a loving, protective, and generous father to his children and a surrogate father to all the young men and women who worked for him. We, his children, are the people we are today because of the kind of man he was.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Maydella Marie Ciulla and his children, Carl Ciulla (Barbara) of Newnan, Georgia, Jonni Fruge (David) of Lake Charles, Sunni Wilbur (Dwayne) of Ragley, and Tonni Vires (Marty) of Moss Bluff, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Blanche Ciulla, and his three sisters, Vera Caminos, Jean Evans, and Georgia Hartley.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.

“Say not in grief ‘he is no more’ but in thankfulness that he was.” Hebrew Proverb
