Carl Lewis Chargois, Sr., 81, of Lake Charles passed away at 6:53 PM on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 in a local hospital. Mr. Chargois was born on October 17, 1934 in Sulphur, LA and was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School. Mr. Chargois served in the US Navy as a signalman. He was a sheet metal worker for many years. Mr. Chargois belonged to the parish of St. Margaret Catholic Church for 54 years and was a member of the Men of the Sacred Heart. In his earlier years he would coach his son's baseball teams and was also a Cub Scout Leader. He was an avid LSU and Saints fan. Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 54 years, Nellie Ann Gauthreaux Chargois; three children, Carl Chargois, Jr. of Shreveport, Lisa Chargois of Lake Charles, and Steven Chargois (Terian) of Lewisville, TX; a sister, Virginia Koonce of Sulphur; four grandchildren, Rebekah Chargois, Tamanie Yeager (Ford), Bobby Eller, and Alex Provost; and one great grandson, Cayden Green. He also leaves behind his beloved poodle, Babette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Metha and John Chargois, Sr.; and seven siblings, A funeral mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 14, 2015 in St. Margaret Catholic Church. The Rev. Marcus Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at 12:30 PM.
