Carl Newhouse, Jr.

Carl Nelson Newhouse, Jr., 86, of Westlake died at 11:50 AM Sunday, May 29, 2016 in his residence with his three loving daughters at his side.

Mr. Newhouse was born in Lake Charles and lived in Westlake for most of his life. He worked as a Chemical Operator at Olin Chemical Corporation. Mr. Newhouse was a member of the Westlake United Methodist Church. He was also a member of The Swinging Rebels Square Dance Club where he loved to dance with his wife Rosie. He loved to go camping, fishing, and telling stories. He also loved working in his shop doing woodwork. Mr. Newhouse’s passion was for his family which he adored greatly.

He is survived by three daughters; Susie Knowles (Reggie) and Adrienne Byrd (David) both of Sulphur, LA, and Karen Oliver (Ed) of Westlake, LA, seven grandchildren: Sherry, Candra, Travis, Matthew, Steven, Marsha, Boone; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grand daughter.

Mr. Newhouse is preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Carl Newhouse, Sr.,

one daughter, Marsha Jane Newhouse, one sister Marjorie Favor, and wife May Rose.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Betty Northern will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Tuesday at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday at 9:00 AM until the time of services.
