Carla Kowarsch Mccormick

Carla Jo Kowarsch McCormick, 56, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 4:10 PM on Thursday, December 31, 2020 in a Houston hospital.

Carla was born February 26, 1964 in Lake Charles, LA, where she was a 1982 graduate of LaGrange High School and enjoyed the years spent as a Gatorette.  She also attended McNeese State University and graduated from Acadiana Tech with her bachelor’s degree in accounting.  She lived almost thirty years in Dallas, TX, before moving back to the Lake Charles area in 2018.  She worked as a financial analyst for Conifer Health Solutions for over twenty years.  She loved her family dearly and took pride in being the team mom for her daughter’s adventures.  Carla was an avid Saints and LSU fan, loved crawfish boils and making her famous banana bread.  She was a member of the Crew of Pirates.  Her true passion in life was for her family and her friends.  She always enjoyed her time with her “Girl Gang” and the “LYLAS” as she referend to her friends.  She will always be remembered as the family hub and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Carla is survived by her daughter, Camryn McCormick; fiancé, Jeff Gaspard of Iowa; step-daughter, Jojo Gaspard; father of her child, J.J. McCormick of Plano, TX; brothers, Butch Kowarsch and wife Michelle of Lake Charles, David Kowarsch and wife Vickie of Starks, LA, and Dennis Kowarsch and wife Merella of Sulphur, LA; special friend, Linda “Granny Choo Choo” McCormick; fourteen nieces and nephews; five great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she loved dearly; aunts, uncles, and tons of friends around the country.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lavina Kowarsch.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 8, 2021 at St. Margaret Catholic Church, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. *Please note masks will be required for attendees.*  Father Keith Pellerin will officiate.  Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
