Carol Ann Chitty Land

Carol Ann Chitty Land, 88, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday afternoon January 21,2024 in a local hospital, surrounded by her family.

Carol was born on March 30, 1935, in Ville Platte, LA. She graduated from Marksville High School in 1954. She was married to Winston Land on April 25, 1959. She faithfully supported him, as a military spouse, during his 20-year career in the Air Force.
She was a loving and nurturing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had many talents which included sewing, quilting, knitting, and cooking. She exposed her sons, early in life, to the importance of having God in their life and attending church regularly as a family.

Carol was affectionally known as “Granny” and loved by all her knew her. Granny was her grandchildren’s biggest fan. She passionately encouraged and supported each grandchild’s endeavor. She was the best Granny, in all ways possible and will be deeply missed by all her grandchildren.
Her crowning glory was her beautiful, brunette hair. For her entire 88 years, she enjoyed confirming to everyone that it was her natural hair color!

She is survived by her three sons, Werner, and wife Michelle of Holmwood, LA, Kevin, and wife Edie of Lake Charles, LA and Paul of Lake Charles, LA: seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Winston; her parents, Ulyssess, and Lenora Chitty; brother Larry Chitty; sister, Nora Dean Kilgore, and granddaughter Lauren Ashley Land.

Her funeral service will be held in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel on Friday January 26, at 1:00 pm. Her grandson, Pastor Jeremiah Land will officiate. Burial will follow at Lorraine-Derouen Cemetery in Hayes, LA.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service at 1:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 12:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Josiah Land, Jeremiah Land, Jonathan Land, Tye Land, Austin Land, Gabe Land and Eryn Land.
