Carol Gwendolyn Fontenot Meaux, 63, of Lake Charles, LA died at 1:15 AM on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 in her residence.


Mrs. Meaux was born April 13, 1949 in Lake Charles, LA, was a 1967 graduate of LaGrange High School and attended McNeese State University, where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She was a faithful member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She was the owner and operator with her husband of Meaux's Western Wear since 1970. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Board of Directors of Southwest District Fat Stock Show and Rodeo for a number of years. Mrs. Meaux was also a director of the Miss Rodeo Louisiana Pageant for many years and the Rodeo Parade Chairman for over twenty years.


Mrs. Meaux is survived by her husband of forty-three years, James L. Jimmy Meaux; daughter, Jana Meaux; mother, Genevieve Fontenot, all of Lake Charles; sisters, Donna Arabie of Lake Charles, Beth Olivier of Austin, TX, and Becky Herder of Friendswood, TX; and three grandchildren, Jaden, Saydee, and Edward Meaux.


She was preceded in death by her son, Judd Meaux and father, Nolan Joseph Fontenot.


Her funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Friday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM.
