Carol Pettyjohn, 82, passed away in the comfort of her home on October 18, 2022, with her family by her side. Carol was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, Canada and became a United States citizen in 1988. She worked many jobs and retired from four of them. Carol worked with the unemployed, volunteered with the Ethel Precht Foundation, and was chairwoman of the National Organization for Women. She was a motivational speaker and opened one of the first abused woman shelters. Carol enjoyed antiquing, reading, playing games on her tablet and fishing with her son. Carol loved being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Carol is survived by her wife of 20 years, Anna LeBlanc; sons, Anthony Pettyjohn and Shane LeBlanc; daughter, Tamara Hatfield; grandchildren, Chip Freeman, Jessica Salas, Aysha Pettyjohn, Jessica Peverill, Lindsey Freeman, Candis Miller; eight great grandchildren; and her sister, Gaye Smith and husband, Jerry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Glenn Pettyjohn and Ruth Pettyjohn Savchenko; sister, Myrna Hopkins; and daughter, Kelley Black.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, October 21st, 2022, at Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly, La.
