Carol Rae Barrios

Carol Rae Urban Barrios, 76, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 10:03 AM on Sunday, May 1, 2016 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Barrios was born May 30, 1939 in Camden, NJ, where she was raised, moved to Sulphur at the age of 26, and has been a resident of Lake Charles ever since.  She worked as a cafeteria technician at T.S. Cooley Elementary School for twenty-three years.  Her sweet, friendly nature made many love her as their second mom.  She loved to travel and spend time with her grandchildren and was always smiling.

Mrs. Barrios is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Daniel David Barrios of Lake Charles; daughters, Sandra Poorte and husband Glen of The Colony, TX and Robbin Barrios of Lake Charles; son, Timothy David Barrios of Lake Charles; sister, Louise Holt of New Jersey; grandchildren, Taylor Poorte of Denton, TX and Elizabeth Barrios of Iowa, LA; best friend, Ann Calabrese and husband Gus of Florida; and numerous other family members and friends.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Reverend Ronnie Estes will officiate.  Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM and continue on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
