He lived in Sulphur for the past 11 years and worked as a long distance truck driver, retiring in 1999 after 30 years of service. Carol was a member of Houston River Baptist Church in Sulphur. Carol loved to fish, shrimp, camp, and enjoyed working in his yard. Carol is survived by his wife of 11 years, Mary Pat Turner Spell of Sulphur; son, Douglas Ray Spell and companion, Penny of Sulphur; two grandchildren, Jaci and Devin Spell of Reeves, La; step-son, Jim Wagstaff and wife, Susan of McClenny, FL; two step-daughters, Sherry DuCharme and husband, Tony of Mauriceville, TX and Charlotte Thibodeaux and husband, Cary of Sulphur; 7 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raleigh and Mary Spell; 11 brothers and sisters; Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 2 p.m.at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with Rev. Lonnie Gothrup officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens in Lake Charles under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 3-9p.m. at the funeral home and will resume on Monday at 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
