Carol Adiger Stebbins, 87, of Lake Charles, LA died at 1:25 AM on Thursday, July 18, 2013 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Stebbins was born September 30, 1925 in New York City, NY and moved to New Orleans as a youngster, where she lived until marrying her husband of sixty-six years, Harcourt Morgan Stebbins. She attended Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans and McNeese State University. In the late 1940's and 50's she worked at KPLC and was active in the Lake Charles Medical and Dental Wives Groups. Carol traveled with her husband in the US Air Force for twenty-three years where she was active in various Officer's Wives Clubs. She was also involved in the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Little League. After her husband's retirement, she returned to Lake Charles. Carol was a charter member of the very successful Moneymakers Investment Club, a member of the Episcopal Church Brown Bag Food Program, worked for the American Heart Association and at a travel agency. She was a member of Temple Sinai, enjoyed cooking, dogs and a good game of Scrabble.
Mrs. Stebbins is survived by her husband; daughters, Charlotte Anson Stebbins and Sarah Lobdell Stebbins Friday; a son David Chapin Stebbins; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and cousins Robert and Joan Meyer.
Her memorial service will be at a later date. Her body was cremated under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
