Carole Nevin Allee McLaughlin, 79, died Friday, July 29, 2011, in a local hospital.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Mrs. McLaughlin was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Lake Charles. In 1954 she joined the First Baptist Church, where she was a devoted member, teaching little children in Sunday School and serving as assistant director of the church library for more than 25 years. Her love for the Lord was reflected by her gracious and faithful life of service. She leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity of spirit.
Mrs. McLaughlin is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Evert and husband David of Monterey, California; two sons, Michael McLaughlin and wife Amy of Tyler, Texas, and Sean McLaughlin and wife Lisa Marie of Houston; two brothers, Max Allee and wife Linda of Orlando, Florida and John Allee and wife Joy Dawn of Moss Bluff; seven grandchildren, Brian Evert and wife Nicole, Jason Evert and wife Jescina, Thomas Evert, Colin McLaughlin, Hayden McLaughlin, Trevor McLaughlin and Juliette McLaughlin; and three great grandchildren, Taylor, Hailey and Elaina Evert.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Pierre McLaughlin; two sisters, Tommye McCrary and Anita Terrell; and one brother, Richard Allee.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011, at Johnson Funeral Home. Dr. John White will officiate. Interment will be at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Monday from 8 a.m. until service time.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the compassionate care given their mother during her illness to all of the family members and friends whom she continually spoke of as being a blessing in her life.
