Carole Vernier

Carole Yvonne Nugent Vernier, 67, of Lake Charles passed away Thursday, January 03, 2013 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Vernier was born in Minneapolis, MN to Harlan and Beverly William Rose. She has lived fifty-six years in Lake Charles. She was a graduate of Lake Charles High School and completed further education in Secretarial and Office skills. She worked for the Better Business Bureau, starting as a secretary in 1972, working her way up to President in 1981. Mrs. Vernier was instrumental and successful in her career with BBB, retiring after thirty years of service. She was an avid reader; she also enjoyed painting, interior decorating and loved to dance. She devoted her life to her family as she took great pride in the time she shared with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Vernier will be most remembered for her love of her family and love of being a mother.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Daniel Robert Danny Nugent and wife Jo of Lake Charles; one daughter, Lori Nugent of Kansas City, MO; step children, David Vernier , Josh Vernier, and Terri Vernier James ; five grandchildren, Blake Nugent of Lake Charles, Dylan Meaux of Kansas City, MO, Matt Nugent of Lake Charles, Taylor Rose Eccles of Kansas City, MO and Kayvan Vernier of Lake Charles; one brother, Bill Rose and wife Karen of Sunflower, MS and three sisters, Beverly Hays of Coldwater, MS, Kathleen April Harris and husband Charles Hatley of Houston, TX and Sherri Russell and husband Bill of Highlands, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Vernier; son, David Nugent; brother, Jack Allen Rose and her parents.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 06, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Chris Fuselier will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Sunday will be from 12:00 PM until the time of service in the funeral home.
