Carolyn Arceneaux Sharpe

Carolyn Janet Arceneaux Sharpe, 77, passed away October 20, 2014 at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. Mrs. Sharpe, born November 9, 1936, was a native of Sulphur where she has lived most of her life. She was a 1955 graduate of Sulphur High School, attended McNeese State University and attained an Associate's Degree at Merced College in Merced, California. Mrs. Sharpe retired in 1998 from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department with 20 years of service. She was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Sulphur. She loved to serve, holding numerous positions over the past 40 years, currently the President of United Methodist Women. She also initiated and led a prayer ministry at Wesley, sending comfort to many people. Mrs. Sharpe will be most remembered for her kind heart, sweet spirit and gift of ministry and hospitality. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Philip Arceneaux. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Calvin Sharpe of Sulphur; a son, Larry Dewain Sharpe and wife, Cam, of Sulphur; one daughter, Susan Leigh Jackson and husband, Jeff, of Ragley; five grand children, Beau Sharpe and wife, Macie, Wayne Peltier, Joe Allen Peltier, Conner Sharpe and Andrew Calvin Sharpe; three brothers, Philip Arceneaux and wife, Jackie, William "Billy" Arceneaux and wife, Barbara, all of Sulphur and Wallace Kent and wife, Bernice, of Houston, Texas; two godchildren, Bradley Arceneaux and DeAnna Conn both of Sulphur; a sister-in-law, Norma Jean Manders and husband, Cecil, of Blackshear, Georgia; many nieces and nephews; all of whom she loves very much. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 423 Live Oak St., Sulphur, LA. Reverends Leon Boggs and Bradley Swire will officiate. Visitation at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sulphur will be Friday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00 PM until the service begins at 2:00 PM. Interment in Sharpe Cemetery in Vidalia, GA will be at later date. She succumbed to cancer after an eleven year fight with Multiple Myeloma. "I have run the race - I have fought a good fight."
