Carolyn Gail Mcmanus

April 30, 1948 — January 13, 2022

Carolyn Gail Hebert McManus, 73, passed away January 13, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard Wallace Hebert of Bell City and Edna Mae Barnes McDonald of Vinton, and her brother, Ronnie (Kathleen) Hebert.

Carolyn is survived by her sister Paulette Kukuk, brother David McDonald, daughters Rachel (Mark) Simmons, Rebecca Hill Smith, and Ruth McManus, 5 grandsons, Brock, Caleb, Bowen (Sydney), Bennon, and Vance Lloyd, 1 granddaughter, Candace, and 1 great granddaughter, Ivy Jane.

Carolyn was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and lived in Sulphur most of her life. She was a retired school teacher. She spent the majority of her teaching career at W.W. Lewis Middle School and R. W. Vincent Elementary. She had a heart for her students and loved them like they were her own. She also worked part-time for the Southwest Daily Newspaper, covering local events and spotlighting residents in the community.

Carolyn had a deep and abiding love for her family and friends. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them and sharing their lives with them. She loved to laugh, and her sense of humor and tender heart are cherished by all who knew her. She was a storyteller at heart, and she delighted in witty banter, jokes, word play, and puns. She had an encyclopedic knowledge of classic movies and World War II trivia. She was also quick to admit that she could not sing but that would not stop her from doing it. As she would tell anyone, her faith was the most important thing to her, and she lived her life in a way that reflected her devotion to God.

No formal services will be held. The family will receive visitors at her home in Sulphur to celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her memory.
