Carolyn Marie Bozeman, 71 of Lake Charles, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was born in Lake Charles, LA on August 22, 1949 to the late Merlin “Mutt” McFarlain and Annie Mae (Fruge) McFarlain.
She attended LaGrange High School, Class of 1969 and Sowela Tech. She worked as a bank teller at Jeff Davis Bank for most of her career. She had an outgoing, bubbly personality and never met a stranger.
She and Warren welcomed two daughters; Rebecca and Cristal into their lives. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved her family dearly. She was a loyal member of St. Luke Simpson Methodist Church where she served as treasurer of the New Horizon Sunday school class. She lived by what her faith taught her; to be a servant and possess a giving and selfless heart, these things she instilled in her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially the holidays, Christmas being one of her favorites. She and Warren loved to travel, her most recent trip being an Alaskan cruise for their 50th wedding anniversary.
When she was not spending time with her family, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening and puzzles. She crocheted blankets for numerous family and friends especially those welcoming a baby.
She is preceeded in death by her parents; a brother, Carl Ray McFarlain Sr. and one nephew Casey Miller.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her husband of fifty-one years, Warren L. Bozemen Jr.; her daughters, Rebecca “Becky” (Jonathan) Trahan, Cristal (John) Boudreaux; her grandchildren, Laura Trahan, Sophie Trahan, Halie Olmsted (fiancé Chanler Thomas), Hunter Olmsted, Savanna Boudreaux; her siblings, Ronnie (Amy) McFarlain, Joey McFarlain (Vanita Hudspeth), Vanessa (Chad) Stanley; her step-mother, Dorothy “Dot” McFarlain. and extended family and her special friend of fifty-two years, Dorothy Rogers.
The family will welcome friends on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at University Baptist Church beginning at 5pm to 8pm. Visitation to resume Friday, January 22, 2021 at 9am till time of service. Funeral services led by Rev. Dr. John Robert Black will begin at 10am under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens.
The family would like to give special thanks to the cancer team at Memorial Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center, Heart of Hospice, especially nurses Heather and Rena for taking such good care of her during her final days.
The family would also like to give a special thanks to Dr. Van Snider.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in Carolyn’s memory to St. Luke Simpson Methodist Church.
