Carolyne Paret Duty passed away November 10, 2013, in her home after a short illness. She was born July 23, 1980, graduated from McNeese State University, attended Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, and was a member of The Junior League of Lake Charles and the Krewe of Mystique. She was the office manager at Gordon's Drugstore. Pure of a loving heart, loyal and wise beyond her 33 years, she left this earth way too soon, but not before she had grown into a woman who made her Mother and Father proud, and blessedly not before Carolyne and Chad created a wonderful family. The family was first with Brandon and Morgan, who Carolyne adored and guided, and then, miraculously, just eight months ago, Eloise Frances, a precious child born perfectly "too soon". Her early arrival, now clearly fortuitous, affording Carolyne and her youngest daughter thousands of precious, additional, irreplaceable moments together. Carolyne's abundant humor was never mean-spirited, but her frank observations and commentary on those of us lucky enough to be around her and in her life was laser perfect. She was inclusive by nature, making everyone feel welcome. She could draw anyone into the comfort of her special nurturing warmth. Carolyne is survived by her husband, Chad Duty and her children, Brandon, Morgan and Eloise Duty; her parents, Frances and Richard Walker and Stewart Taylor; her sister, Maggie Walker; her father-in-law Bill Duty, and his wife, Carol; her mother-in-law, Linda Duty and husband Richard Smart, and her Sister-in-Law Anne Duty. Her loving aunts and uncles, George and Evelyn Paret, Melvin Paret, Beverly and Bryan Reddin, Frank and Diana Walker, Lila and Gary Hicks, and Chris and Cindy Johnson. Her adoring cousins, Dana and Mark Eubanks, Lock Paret, IV, Charles, Melanie and Chapman Paret, Sara Reddin, Zack and Heidi, Gabby, Savannah, and Quinn Walker, Lila and Jeremy Knicely, Elizabeth and Jason Farr, and Austin Hicks. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lock and Beverly Paret, Frank and Betty Walker, and her aunt, Anne Walker Johnson. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Her memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Wednesday at 10:30. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.johnsonfuneralhome.net. We will all miss her greatly. Donations in her honor can be made to Good Shepherd or the charity of your choice.
