Carrol Branson Grimes, Jr., 74, of Gillis, LA, died at 7:20 PM on Monday, April 2, 2018 in his residence.
Mr. Grimes was born September 24, 1943 in Lake Charles, LA and lived in Gillis since 1967. He served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Grimes was a hardworking man and worked as a heavy equipment operator and owned his own company, Carrol Grimes and Sons, since 1972. He was a member of the Operators Local #406 and loved to spend time working his cows and traveling. He also enjoyed fishing and camping, but his true passion was spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Mr. Grimes is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Linda Grimes of Gillis; sons, Carrol “Doody” Grimes, III and wife Susie of Gillis, and Greg Grimes and wife JoAnne of Austin, TX; daughter, Shannon Manning of Baton Rouge; brother, Tommy Grimes and wife Nelda of Kenner, LA; sister, Judy McCloskey and husband Randy of Covington, LA; and grandchildren, Cody Grimes, Cade Grimes, Matthew Grimes, Austin Grimes, Wyatt Manning, and Dalton Manning.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrol Branson Grimes, Sr. and Earleen Busby Jones.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Alfred Gibson will officiate. Burial will follow in Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
