Lucas McCain

December 26, 1970 — February 21, 2025

Carson Lucas McCain, 54, passed away on February 21, 2025. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on December 26, 1970, Lucas was raised in Grand Lake, where he developed a deep love for working with his hands and his mind.

A man of many talents, Lucas had an incredible ability to build, fabricate, and engineer—if it involved construction, electrical work, or electronics, he was the man for the job. His specialty being disassembly. His craftsmanship and skill were unmatched and there wasn't anything he wouldn't try to learn how to do...even if it was learning in "Hands On University". Lucas had a strong willingness to help others, and if you were willing to barter, trade and swap then he was ready. He worked as a journeyman electrician, dedicating years of service to multiple electrical companies in the Lake Area and beyond. In addition to being a member of IBEW local 861 for a number of years.

In the early 2000s, Lucas reconnected with Angela Hebert after being a childhood schoolmate. Their connection was instant, and just five days after re-meeting, they set off on an adventure when she went back to California with him, residing in the Bay Area for the next year. Their love was undeniable, and on December 15, 2008, they officially became husband and wife. A testament to his creativity and "resourcefulness", Lucas handcrafted Angela’s engagement ring from a troy of silver using only a hole saw and a hand file. Lucas' humble spirit, generous heart, and unmatched skills will forever be remembered by those who had the chance to meet him or knew and loved him, or simply tolerated him because he was a good guy to know! Maybe a little rough around the edges at times, with a huge heart and much compassion. If there was something someone needed, he probably had it or knew where to get it. He will be profoundly missed by those fortunate enough to be called friends and the world will just not be quite the same without him in it.

Lucas is survived by his devoted and wonderful wife of 17 years, Angela Hebert McCain; his father, Edward Tal McCain, and stepmother, Nel McCain; his brothers, Jake McCain (Kelly) and Travis McCain (Nikki); his stepfather, Tommy Carson; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Hunter McCain, Callie McCain, Wyatt McCain, Collin Bruns, and Hayden Bruns, Allan Schexnider and Camryn Schexnider, along with numerous cousins and extended family and, of course, "the cats" and most recently a couple of chickens.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Connie Rae, sister Melissa, and his grandparents, who welcomed him into eternal peace.

A funeral service in Lucas' honor will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 1:00PM at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Big Lake, Louisiana. Visitation will be open to the public on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, with a Rosary at 6:00 PM.
