Carter Cushing Robbins, 59, of Lake Charles passed away Wednesday, January 01, 2014 in Houston, TX following a brief illness. Mr. Robbins was born on August 13, 1954 in Providence, RI. He was raised and educated and lived nearly forty years in Tyler, TX and has lived the past eighteen years in Lake Charles. He was a graduate a 1972 of Robert E. Lee High School and attended Tyler Junior College and East Texas State University in Commerce. He worked most of his life as a self-employed consultant in the Oil & Gas Industry. In 2001, Mr. Robbins founded Terra Source, LLC, a professional Land Services Company, servicing, El Paso Corporation, Burlington Resources, Conoco-Phillips, Comstock Resources and a number of others. He was a great Landman, highly respected in his field, 2011 recipient of the Brantley Jackson Award; a former director and officer of East Texas Association of Petroleum Landmen; member of the ARK-LA-TEX Association of Petroleum Landmen and American Association of Professional Landmen and Certified Professional Landman. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved to hunt and fish and travel. Mr. Robbins took great pride in his love and devotion to his family. He will be most remembered as a selfless, kind, good, generous and humble man. He leaves to honor his memory, his precious wife of twenty years, Sally Crader Robbins of Lake Charles; son, William Carter Robbins and wife Nicole Dickerson Robbins of Tyler, TX; two daughters, Elizabeth Simons Ruff and husband Sean of Austin, TX and Courtney Jo Childs of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Lillie and London Ruff of Austin, TX and Riley Carter Robbins of Tyler, TX; one sister, Lynda Harrison and husband Jim of Tyler, TX and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald C. Robbins; step-father, Donald Briggs Badger and mother, Garnet Pfau Badger. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. A service in celebration of Mr. Robbins life will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 04, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Jim Leuckenhoff will officiate. Gathering of friends Saturday will be from 12:00 PM until the time of service in the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers for the celebration services will be Hal Hudgins, Larry Terry, Bob Evans, Andrew Swann, Matthew Harrison, Steven Harrison, Wayne Crader, Bart Crader, Cory Crader, Don Thomason, Kane Mitchell and Order of the Bird Members.
