Catherine “Cathy” Richard Lowry died on Friday, April 29, 2022. She felt blessed with a life filled with a loving family and dear friends. Cathy was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church and loved her Catholic faith. She was an ACTS sister, taught at children’s mass, and served as a weekly Adorer. She also served on OLQH School and St. Louis Catholic School Boards.
Cathy was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a doting grandmother to her seven grandchildren. She was a children’s author, writing two anti-bullying books, How the Crawfish Got Its Shell and the sequel Maurice and Claude. She was a graduate of McNeese State University in Early Childhood Education. She taught at Dolby Elementary and ICCS. She loved teaching and each of her students held a very special place in her heart.
Mrs. Lowry is survived by the love of her life and husband of more than 53 years, William “Billy” Lowry, Sr.; children: John Lowry, II (Natalia), Patricia Lowry, Dr. William “Bill” Lowry, Jr. (Sarah); grandchildren: William and Christian Ertell, Francisco, Paloma, Maggie, Pierce, and Sawyer Lowry; siblings: Joseph “Joe” Richard, Jr. (Nancy), Sylvia Guidry, and Elaine Shaw; and brother-in-law, Randy Broussard.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven. Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate. A rosary will be recited at the church at 9:00 AM. Inurnment will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
