Catherine Mitchell Drost

Catherine Mitchell Drost passed away peacefully at her residence in Lake Charles early in the morning on July 7, 2011. Catherine was born in Sulphur, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Edgar & Edna Mitchell. She is a graduate of Sulphur High School where she was a Cheerleader. After high school she worked as an assistant for Gravity Drainage District Number 5, Ward 4, for many years. Thereafter, she co-owned and operated C Drost Trailer Sales in Sulphur, Louisiana and then Drost Landing convenience store on Hwy 27 in Carlyss, Louisiana, where she loved to socialize with the passers-by and share fish stories, which was one of her favorite past-times along with many fun-filled days with her family and friends at her home on Choupique Bayou. Catherine was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Catherine Drost was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie Drost, her sister Evelyn Perry and her brother, Tommy Mitchell. She is survived by her children, Gaye Drost Kent, Mitch and Linda Drost, Skipper and Tara Drost all of Lake Charles. Granny is also survived by her grandchildren, Richard Kent, Andy Kent, Will and Ann Drost, Brock and Desiree Drost Brame, Chas and Casey Drost, Tony and Annie Drost Berrigan and Catherine Dawn Drost; and her great grandchildren Annaleigh Drost, Charlie Drost, Gigi Brame, Belle Brame, Sabrina Brame, Brooks Drost and Sophie Drost. In accordance with her wishes, graveside services only will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Dutch Cove Cemetery located in Carlyss, Louisiana under the direction of Robison Funeral Home. The Reverend Steve Shirley will officiate. Pallbearers are Will Drost, Chas Drost, Richard Kent, Andy Kent, Brock Brame, and Tony Berrigan. Catherine Drost was dedicated throughout her life to her family. She was proud of being a wife, mother and grandmother. Family was her life and her soul, each and every one having their own special place in her heart. She will be remembered as an always optimistic, warm and fun loving person of great generosity. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Coastal Conservation of Louisiana (CCA), P.O.
