Cathy also loved all her animals and treated them like her children.

Survivors include her loving husband and best friend of thirty-nine years, Glen S. Mears, Sr.; two sons, Stewart Mears and wife Kimberly of Houston, TX, and Bryan E. Mears and wife Brittney of Ragley; five grandchildren, Brianna, Baleigh, Lana, Bryson, and Jason Mears; her mother, Linda Helms Poe; two sisters, Janet Fortier and husband Alfred, and Dianne Hargette; one brother, Willard Poe, Jr. and wife Lois. She was preceded in death by her father, Willard Poe, Sr. and her sister, Carolyn Micelle.

Her funeral will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Gillis. Pastor Glenn George will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Monday, and continue from 10:00 AM until time of services, Tuesday, at the church.

In lieu of flowers and because of Cathy's great love of animals the family request donations be made to the Houston SPCA.
