Cecelia Lou Stutes Banker

Cecelia "Lou" Stutes Banker, 78, of Vinton died at 8:06 AM on November 9, 2011 in a local hospital due to cancer complications.

Mrs. Banker was born on July 6, 1933 in Orange, TX and was a long time resident of Vinton, LA. In her earlier years she was employed with South Central Bell Telephone Company before becoming owner of C L Western Wear in Vinton. For the past 23 years she worked at Delta Downs for Louisiana Racing Commission. Mrs. Banker was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton, LA.

Those left to cherish her memory are a brother, Tommie Stutes and wife Tommie Lou of Carlyss; her Godchild and great niece, Darnell Richard Eastman and husband Scott of Lake Charles; many nieces and nephews; a son, Alan Banker and wife Peggy of Martinsburg, WV; three grandchildren, Falon, Dylan, and Dalton Fred Banker; a daughter, Deborah Jones of Loomis, CA. Also surviving her are her very dear friends, residence of Vinton, LA, and co-workers with the State of Louisiana Racing Commission.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Fred Banker; her parents, Alcide Stutes, Sr. and Cecilia Roy Stutes; and six brothers; and seven sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 11, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Susil Fernando will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 5:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Odyssey Hospice and also to the many doctors, nurses, and aides at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
