Cecil Harold Yantis, 75, of Lake Charles, LA died at 9:03 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2013 in a local hospital. Mr. Yantis was born March 7, 1938 in Lake Charles, LA, where he lived all of his life. He was a 1956 graduate of LaGrange High School and was a member of St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church. Mr. Yantis worked as a Brick Mason for forty-five years with his partners, Norman Jinks and Norman Yantis at AAA Masonry. He loved spending time with his family and leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. Those who loved him will always remember him as "Pops"; he will be missed dearly. Mr. Yantis is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of fifty-four years, Melba Hebert Yantis of Lake Charles; daughters, Jean Hunter and husband Douglas of Lafayette, LA and Catherine Unkel and husband Eric of Kinder, LA; sister, Arline Thorn and husband Jim of Lake Charles; brother, Gary Yantis and wife Gail of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Jessica Wilder, Megan Hunter, Mallory Wilder, Adam Hunter and Joe Wilder, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Kensie, Remi, Kara, and Whitten. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Yantis; parents, David Kenneth Yantis, Jr. and Doris Jinks Yantis; and brothers, Norman Yantis and Kenneth Yantis. His funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverends Jack O'Dell and Henry Bowdon will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service. Pallbearers for the service will be Richard Triche, Gary Yantis, Douglas Hunter, Adam Hunter, Eric Unkel, and Joe Wilder, Jr.
