Charlene Gail Lanier

Charlene Gail Lanier, 65, died on July 30, 2012 at a care facility in Southaven, MS.


Ms. Lanier was born March 31, 1947 in Lake Charles, LA, where she lived most of her life. She was a 1965 graduate of LaGrange High School and graduated with her Bachelors' degree from McNeese State University. She worked for the Calcasieu Parish School Board, where she taught Special Education and Home Economics for twenty years, retiring in 2009. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, where she served as a lector and Eucharistic minister and was a past member of the Ladies Altar Society. She organized the craft show in Natchitoches, LA. Ms. Lanier enjoyed sewing, crafts, cooking and reading and volunteered her time with animals. She loved her family and animals and will be missed dearly.


Ms. Lanier is survived by her son, Heath Lanier and wife Jennifer of Horn Lake, MS; daughter, Colene Bonnette and husband Matthew of Lake Charles; brother, Michael Franques of Farmers Branch, TX; father of her children, Vernon Lanier of Lake Charles, LA; grandchildren, Haley and Katelyn Bonnette; her dog, Little Boy; and her cat, Mister.


She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Wade Lanier; and parents, Roy and Susie Franques.


Her memorial service will be at 4:30 PM on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor Danny Torres will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
