Charles "Charlie" Raymond Noland

January 11, 1941 — September 4, 2021

Charles “Charlie” Raymond Noland, 80, peacefully passed away Sept. 4, 2021, at his home in Lake Charles. He was surrounded by his wife, Nancy Noland, and family Sabra Noland, Ashley Vidrine, Justin Langford, Bria Rybicki, and Lindsey Langford-Coffman.

Charlie was born Jan. 11, 1941, in Richmond, Kentucky. The son and only child of Curlene Roberts Noland and Raymond Noland. Charlie met the love of his life, Nancy Caroline Kidd, in Richmond, Kentucky and they were married on August 28, 1959. They have been married for 62 years and have stuck together through better or worse, and through sickness and health.

Charlie began his career in December 1962 with South Central Bell as a lineman in Kentucky. With hard work and dedication, he became an engineer with South Central Bell. In 1973 Charlie accepted a transfer from Danville, Kentucky to Lake Charles until taking early retirement in December 1996. Charlie gave South Central Bell 34 years of dedication and South-Central Bell gave him stability and the ability to support and provide for his family of five.

Soon after early retirement Charlie and Nancy became full time RVers. They traveled to Florida, West Texas, and New Mexico. They created many, many memories and experienced many adventures together. At the end of their ten and a half years of traveling, Charlie and Nancy returned to Lake Charles to live out the remainder of Charlie’s life.

Charlie would like to extend thanks and gratitude to everyone for putting up with his hard headedness and occasional temper tantrum. Through it all, Charlie loved the best he could.

Charlie was preceded in death by his Grandson Nikolaus Smith. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Noland, and three daughters Valerie Smith, Sabra Noland, and Danita Noland, 6 grandchildren Christopher Smith, Colline Vidrine, Ashley Vidrine, Heather Vidrine, Justin Langford, and Lindsey Langford. He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren Adia Smith, Embry Smith, Hayes Vidrine, Nico Brosnan, Bastien Vidrine, Vincent Miller, and Claire Coffman.

There was always a pet dog in Charlie’s life. But there was a special dog that was adopted through LA. P.A.W.S. named Sookie who was Charlie’s BFF (Best Fur Friend). Please, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to LA. P.A.W.S.

A celebration of life for Charlie Noland will be held at a later date
