Charles “Chuck” Edward Porter, 47, of Lake Charles went home on Tuesday, October 2, 2018.
Charles was born on December 17, 1970 in Lake Charles. He graduated from Fenton High School where he excelled in baseball and was on the basketball team winning a championship and earning a scholarship to McNeese State University.
He never met a stranger, lived life with a passion, loved with all of his heart, and was a hard worker. As a working team member of Zachary Industrial, Inc. and all previous occupations, he worked diligently to educate and encourage his coworkers in the industrial field on the importance of safety for themselves, each other, and most importantly for the families they go home to. Charles was a member of the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and was also a certified CHST.
As a proud resident of Louisiana, he spent his spare time as an avid fisherman and hunter. His fondest memories were in Toledo Bend enjoying the outdoors. Charles was LSU’s biggest fan and NASCAR’s most passionate fan.
Charles will be remembered for his generosity and will continue to live through others as an organ donor.
He will always be cherished and loved by his wife and best friend, Rebecca Patterson Porter; son, Ryan William Porter, the “Apple of His Eye”, his mother, Arline Hebert Porter Moffett; sisters, Carrie Porter-Porche (Francis) and Mary Porter-Moore (Pete); step children, Mary Katherine Noveroske, Kyle Collins, and Patricia Murphy; nieces, Vicki Porche-Durden (Dennis), Lauryn Teer-Leslie (Aaron), and Candi Porter-Darwin; nephew, Brandon Porche; and great nieces and nephews, Chase and Casey Durden, Mandy and Brady Porche, and Faelyn Leslie.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, William E. “Bill” Porter, Jr.; brother, James D. Porter; loving step father, Rev. John Moffett; and Paul Patterson, father in law.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, October 8, 2018 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ronnie Estes will officiate along with family and friends. Visitation will begin on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will resume on Monday from 3:00 PM until the start of the service.
