Charles Dewitt

Charles Clayton Dewitt, 69, of Lake Charles died at 6:49 AM on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 in his residence.


Mr. Dewitt was born in Lake Charles on May 16, 1941 and lived here all of his life. From 1988 until 2000 he and his wife traveled the country following his refractory work. Mr. Dewitt was also known for his masonry work throughout the community. He was a member of Brick Layer's Local #4 and the International Local. Amongst many other trades, he was a qualified welder and an excellent carpenter. He attended Glad Tidings Church.


He was known by many people and was well respected and liked by all who knew him.


Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Zenna Dewitt; two sons, Randall and Stephen Dewitt all of Lake Charles; a daughter and her husband, Yvonne Shuff and Tony of West Monroe; a sister, Olga Spillmen of Lake Charles; and a grandson, Brent Shuff, Jr. of West Monroe.


Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 14, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Gary Evers will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
