He was a graduate of Lake Charles High School, and McNeese State University where he majored in physics, and was a member of the ROTC. Upon graduation from McNeese, he served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Next, he was promoted to District Manager for Schlumberger in Monahans, TX, and in Maurice, LA. Finally, he was Technical Manager at the Schlumberger Land Operations Headquarters in Dallas, TX until he retired.
His retirement hobby was genealogy. He spent many hours researching family history, and he communicated with other genealogy enthusiasts all over the United States to share and gain information. For the past twenty-one years, he was a faithful member of the Lake Charles First Baptist Church, where he was a choir member and Sunday School teacher. He loved to sing, and each time he moved to a different city, he joined the church choir and other singing groups. After retirement, he was a member of the “Aging Cajuns” singing group based at First Baptist Church in Sulphur, LA.
Those left to cherish his memory are Sandra, his wife of 60 years, and his children, David Alcock of Dallas, TX, and Dana Alcock Kocourek (Tim) of Carrollton, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters, Ann Moline and Betty Alcock.
The family would like to acknowledge Betty Doyle, Felicia Stark, and the Christus St. Patrick Hospice Care staff for their guidance, support and compassionate care for Charles.
