Charles Hamilton Kroske

Charles Hamilton Kroske, 87, of Westlake, LA, died at 8:05 AM on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in a local hospital.

 

Mr. Kroske was born July 22, 1930 in Williamstown, OH, where he graduated from Arlington High School and then attended Lee College in Tennessee. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950, serving four years during the Korean Conflict as an air plane mechanic. He served as a PFC and Corporal at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Sergeant at Kadina Air Force Base and finally as a Staff Sergeant at Chennault Air Force Base. Mr. Kroske worked for Olin Matheson from 1954 to 1968 and at the VCM Plant (Sasol) from 1968 until his retirement in 1995 as a shift supervisor. He stayed with them for one year following retirement as a consultant.

 

Mr. Kroske was an active member of the First Pentecostal Church of Westlake, where he served as a Board member and Trustee for many years. During his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and following retirement, he enjoyed gardening. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife. He was a dependable and determined individual who could do anything he put his heart and mind to.

 

Mr. Kroske is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Iris Thompson Kroske; children, Linda Baggett and husband Terry of Westlake, LA, Cheryl Kroske of Katy, TX, and Michael Kroske and wife Laura of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Kevin Baggett, Justin Hodges and wife Shana, Melissa Cresswell, Evan Kroske, Pamela Corea and husband Saul, and Branden Kroske; and one great-grandson, Sean Cresswell.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Merton and Mabel Kroske; sister, Margaret Radabaugh; and brothers, John Kroske and Vernon Kroske.

 

His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the First Pentecostal Church of Westlake. Pastor Randy Stanton will officiate. Burial will follow in Westlake Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Friday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
