Charles J. Banzhof

October 18, 1940 — June 1, 2022

Charles J. Banzhof, 81, of Moss Bluff, La crossed over on June 1, 2022. He was surrounded by close family members and his dog, MacGuyver.

Daddy’s first love was school. Loved, loved, loved school. Loved learning. “Everyday you learn something new.”  He attended the University of St Thomas in Houston after graduating from Sulphur High. Then later went to McNeese State earning a bachelor’s in Business Administration and Education. Then teaching at South Beauregard High. “Knowledge is the key.”  Sacrificing his love of school, he went to work for Conoco and retired in 1997.

Daddy was always active despite having type 1 brittle diabetes. It never slowed him down. He worked on engines, sold real estate, and swimming pools on the side. Always tinkering on something. Forever on the hunt to learn how things worked. Especially the universe.

He loved to travel. After retiring he and his wife Clare alongside Bailee, stayed on the road for 5 years exploring the west. Then settled in Alaska for a few years. Having to return to La for missing his daughters so much.

“While you’re resting…”, infamous quote from daddy. Later learning it was just to have one of his girls with him. He was intent that we should know everything he knew and more.

Many more sayings that we will carry on but have run out of quarters, for now.

His mother and father Margaret and Charlie, sister Patricia Waldmier, and grandson Joey Eastman excitedly welcome him to eternal life.

Fondly cherishing all the good times are his wife, Clare; daughters, Laurie Cook, Jennifer (David) Adams, Julie (Arick) Daigle all of Moss Bluff and Bailee Banzhof of Lake Charles; grandchildren and great grandchildren, but especially Soli and Rhett; and sister, Deloras (B.E.) Creasey of Houston.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate his life will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.

Rest easy Daddy.
