Charles Joseph "Bobby" Taylor Sr.

Charles “Bobby” Taylor, 78, of Lake Charles passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 8th 2023, surrounded by his family.

Charles was born in Lafayette, Louisiana on August 15, 1945. On March 31,1967 Charles met, and married, his sweetheart, LaVona Huesers. He worked for over 35 years at Hercules, Himont, and Lyondell Basell as a plant operator. After retiring and not being able to sit still for more than five minutes, he went on to work at the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s department as a bailiff at the courthouse for over 10 years. During this time, he enjoyed daily interactions with everyone he came into contact with, hoping to make a positive influence on anyone he met, helping hundreds get their lives back on track.

Charles was a devoted father, grandfather, family member, and friend. He thrived off of the time he spent with his loved ones, his daughter-in-law’s yellow rice and chicken, deep conversations, and his grand, and great-grandchildren. He wore the name “Paw Paw” loud and proud to all those who would listen. Over the years he became quite the soccer fan: watching or going to and cheering at his grandson’s games.

Charles will be remembered most for his abundance of advice, loyalty, black coffee, love of Cajun music and his button-up shirts.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his one son, Charles Taylor, Jr. and wife Kelly, three grandchildren and their spouses, Zach and Jordan, Gabby and Eleazar, and Gavin; two great – grandchildren, Nova and Ezra; one brother, Johnny and his wife Marie; brother-in-law, Stephen Huesers and wife Sheryl of Lake Charles, sister-in-law, Molly Benoit of Lake Charles; many other extended family members, and his two feline friends, Lil’ Man and Kobe.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, LaVona Taylor; his parents, Adolph and Theresa Taylor, sister, Mary Jensen and sister-in-law, Liz Tate.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. April Carter, Dr. Donald Higgins, Carylss, Nita, Darlene, the staff of Memorial Hospital (8th, 7th, 2nd, ICU Floors), and all of our friends for their love and support during this difficult time.
