Charles Joseph Hugonin, Sr., 62, of Lake Charles, LA, died on Monday, December 29, 2014 in his residence. Mr. Hugonin was born August 20, 1952 in New Iberia, LA, where he was raised, and has lived in Lake Charles for the past thirty years. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he retired as a deacon after twenty-five years of service, served on the bus ministry and sang in the choir. He graduated from Faith Bible Institute. Mr. Hugonin was a devoted man of God, who loved his wife, family, and grandchildren dearly. He enjoyed life and loved to see others happy. Mr. Hugonin is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Regina Hugonin; children, Charles Hugonin, Jr. and wife Jessica of Sulphur, LA, Tamica Tullos and husband Dewayne of Lake Charles, Charity Edwards and husband Chad of Sulphur, and Seth Hugonin and fiancée Jessica Lytle of Lake Charles; sister, Carmen Dequire and husband Howard of Lydia, LA; brothers, Carl Hugonin of Lake Charles and Donald Hugonin and wife Patsie of Youngsville, LA; half-sisters, Patricia Armentor of New Iberia, LA and Dianne Broussard of New Iberia; half-brothers, Marvin Broussard of CA and "Pappy" Broussard of New Iberia; seventeen grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Addison Edwards; and parents Evelyn and Donald Hugonin, Sr. His funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Friendship Baptist Church. Reverend Dale Nazworth and Rev. Charles Hugonin, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with expenses.
