Charles Leroy Owen, 86, passed away on May 12, 2018 after his battle with Alzheimer’s at The Guardian House.
Mr. Owen was always involved with athletics and was a coach and head coach of LaGrange High School’s football team from 1965 to 1979. Mr. Owen even played football while serving our country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After his time at LaGrange he founded Calcasieu Building Maintenance. In his down time, he was an avid golfer and past champion of the Lake Charles City Tournament. Most of all, he is remembered as a proud father and grandfather.
Mr. Owen leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Mrs. Syliva Owen; daughter, LeAnn Ewing and husband Jennings; and a grandson, Hunter Ewing.
He is preceded in death, by his parents, Rev. C.T. Owen and Thelma Owen.
Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church at 2PM Thursday, May 17, 2018. Father Seth Donald will officiate. Visitation will begin at 1PM on Thursday at the church until the start of the service.
