Charles Washburn, 72, passed away on July 4, 2017 in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Washburn was a lifelong local of Lake Charles and also enjoyed his camp at Bundick Lake. After three years serving in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant with the 101st Airborne Division he began a career as a senior structural engineer. In his leisure time, Charles loved BBQ and entertain his family while listening to Cajun music. With his beloved wife, Belinda, he took many memorable cruises and trips in their motor home. His dogs Jo Jo, Ana, Su Su, and Gizz will miss him dearly.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 28 years, Belinda Washburn of Moss Bluff; four daughters, Tiffany Blackmon (Terrell) of Iowa, LA, Tammie Spell (Murphy) of Iowa, LA, Kristel Deese (Aaron) of Lafayette, LA, and Katrina Washburn of Lake Charles; son, Christopher Washburn of Many, LA; four sisters, Kay Winn of Lake Charles, Altha “Sis” Alexander of Lake Charles, Teena Hebert of Lake Charles, Kelli Sargent of Moss Bluff, LA; eight grandchildren, Justin, Devin, Kristen, Coby, Madison, Christopher, Kelsey, and Chris Jr.; sister-in-law, Charlotte Blessing; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eddy Washburn, and Violet Wrigley; and two brothers, Maurice and Jimmy Wrigley.
A funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home at 1PM on Friday, July 7, 2017. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Rev. Randy Edwards will officiate. Visitation will also be at the funeral home beginning at 2PM to 9PM on Thursday, July 6. Visitation will continue Friday morning at 9AM until the start of the service.
