Charles M. Robertson, 60, of Lake Charles passed away, Friday, March 9, 2010 in his residence.
Dr. Robertson was born in Knoxville, TN and grew up in Alexandria, LA.
He was a graduate of Bolton High School and received his Bachelor's in Psychology from Louisiana Tech University, his Master's in Psychology from McNeese State University and in 1988 his Doctorate in Psychology from Florida Institute of Technology. After graduating from LA Tech, Chuck relocated to Lake Charles, where he made his home. Chuck had a long and successful career in the mental health field. He was affiliated with the Louisiana Department of Rehabilitation Services, the LA Department of Mental Health, and Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Physical Rehabilitation Department as Psychological Consultant. Chuck has served on the staffs of Lake Charles Memorial, Christus St. Patrick and Charter Hospitals. He was Assistant Professor of Psychology at McNeese State University. Chuck was a CIT Instructor and Hostage Negotiation Team Member of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department and Forensic Evaluator for the 14th Judicial District Court. He helped found the Calcasieu Women's Shelter and served as Staff Trainer.
For Many Years Doc maintained a private practice in neuropsychology, Lake Area Neuropsychology Associates. He was a member of American Psychological Association, the National Academy of Neuropsychology and was a Louisiana Licensed Clinical Psychologist. Chuck was a great lover of music. In the 1990's he was drummer for the Pool House Band. Later, he built a recording studio and produced the music for other artists.
He is predeceased by his parents, Charles M. Robertson, Jr. and Mary Wallace Robertson, and sister Robyn Henderson. On Valentines Day, 1996, Chuck married the love of his life, Sandy Nugent. They enjoyed traveling, music, caring for their pets Lil Bit, Sampson, and Mia and floating in their pool. Chuck is survived by his wife, Sandy, Cousin Kay Mayeux, mother-in-law Louise Davis, brother-in-law Paul Nugent and wife Anita and family. Chuck is also mourned by many friends, colleagues, students, fellow deputies and the many patients he helped over the years.
His memorial service will be at 6:00 PM, Monday, March 12, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Ronnie Estes will officiate. The body was cremated. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4:30 PM until time of service, Monday, in the funeral home.
