Charles Vincent Scheufens

Charles Vincent Scheufens,81, of Westlake, died Sunday, January 8, 2012 in a local hospital.


Mr. Scheufens was born in Roberts Cove, La, and moved to the Iowa area at a young age. He was a 1949 graduate of Iowa High School. After graduation he entered the U. S. Army where he served as a cook with the 66th Signal Corp, attached to the 82nd Airborne Division.


Mr. Scheufens was a Department Manager at Muller's for 17 years and later was Department Manager at K-Mart for 27 years.


He is survived by his wife of 53 and one-half years, Billie Jewell Lyle Scheufens of Westlake; two sons, William R. Scheufens and his wife Cynthia of Lake Charles and Gregory Vincent Scheufens of Carlyss; one daughter Trecia Denise Quebodeaux and her husband Kevin of Moss Bluff; grandchildren, Sydney Hargroder, Shelby Scheufens, Daniel Clark, Zachary Scheufens, Matthew Scheufens, Brennan Babineaux, Cohen Babineaux, Mya Alyse Scheufens, Michael Welch, Katelyn Reeves, Pfc Ethan Quebodeaux, Lance Quebodeaux, and Kimberly Quebodeaux and two great grandchildren Anna Claire Reeves and Bryleigh Welch. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Catherine Reiners Scheufens; sisters Veronica Scheufens, Catherine Meyer, Anne Hicks, and Elizabeth Broussard Silvia; brothers, Theodore Scheufens, Frank Scheufens, Frank Scheufens, and Hubert Joseph Shceufens.


Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Westlake. The Rev. Alan Trouille will officiate. Burial will be in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home form 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Tuesday night in the funeral home chapel. Visitation on Wednesday will be at St. Johnson Bosco Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 AM.
